Fossil Fuels –methane, petroleum and coal- are non-renewable resources because they take millions of years to form and reserves are being depleted much faster than new ones are being formed, and concern about fossil fuel supplies is one of the causes of regional and global conflicts.   According to the experts, Oil –main source of energy in our world- will be depleted sooner than many realize.Oil production will reach a Peak and then according to international market experts, barrel price will be at  its summit, and later on, the production will go down and the market  needs will rise up, the demand will outstrip supply.  Based on these predictions, some conclude that, world oil production will reach its peak between 2012 and 2017.   So the world will be facing two major crisis, the Global Warming and its consequences,and Shortage of Oil – being the main driver of our current civilization. The world already is looking for Renewable Energy, and the US is taking the lead.  Solar Energy is considered number one source and Nevada Solar One plant is an example of this source of energy, or what is called CSP – Concentrated Solar Power. I’ve been surfing the internet looking for technical details related to solar mirrors or reflectors of solar thermal collectors, when I discovered the site of  TREC , or Trans-Mediterranean Renewable Energy Cooperation.  TREC is founded by  the Club of Rome, the Hamburg Climate Protection Foundation and the National Energy Research Center of Jordan (NERC).  It has developed the DESERTEC Concept and promoting the idea in cooperation with people in politics, industry and finance.

Quote: ” The DESERTEC Concept of TREC is to boost the generation of electricity and desalinated water by solar thermal power plants and wind turbines in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and to transmit the clean electrical power via High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission lines throughout those areas and as from 2020 (with overall just 10-15% transmission losses) to Europe.The technologies that are needed to realise the DESERTEC concept are already developed and some of them have been in use for decades. Several studies by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) confirm the viability of this concept and the usefulness of realising it very soon.”  Unquote.

I was complaining of my wireless internet connection lately, until I realized that there could be a more serious Web problem to worry about.  I read a report published in InformationWeek that unless Internet providers start to invest from $42 billion to $55 billion –or 60% to 70%- more than current expenditure, the Web may collapse within three years.  The report predicted that ; “The next Google, Youtube, or Amazon might not arise if the situation isn’t fixed.”  To Read More … here ..

زرت معرض الكتاب الدولى بمدينة طرابلس ، و أعتقد أن وصف المدون خالد للمعرض و ملاحظاته كانت قريبة للواقع.  كما كانت هناك كتب قيمة  كما لاحظت المدونة هبة - و بعضها نادر أيضا في مكتباتنا - نعم ، و لكن يبقى سعر الكتاب الجيد فوق قدرات كثير من الناس في مجتمع لا يشتهر بالقراءة أصلا .  و رغم ذلك فهو ظاهرة حضارية نرجو استمرارها ، و لعلنا نصبح من الشعوب القارئة مستقبلا.  الذي أدهشني و أعجبنى في طرابلس في هذه المرة هو الطريقة الجميلة لإخفاء عمليات الترميم لبعض المباني العامة بشكل حضاري مميز ،و لا يسعنى الا أن أقول أحسنتم ، و يا ليت ذلك يصبح من ضمن كراسة مواصفات العمل و شروطه لاى مشروع ترميم مباني فى جميع المدن الليبية 

ما زال الشاعر عبد الرحمن بن مساعد يفاجئنى بقصائده المعبرة عن و ضعنا العربى البائس و المتردى.  هاهى قصيده من قصائده تعبر عن فكرة الشطارة و الفهلوة و الفساد الذى أصبح من الظواهر العربية السائدة بيننا.  هناك فئة قليلة استباحت لنفسها كل شى ، و هناك فئات كثيرة مازالت تكدح و بالكاد تستطيع الوصول الى لقمة العيش.  هذا الشاعر الامير صدق من قال فيه ، على أنه يجيد النظر الى عالم الفقراء ، و يجيد النظر للاحساس  بمشاكلهم و امورهم ، لغته قريبه لاحساسه ، فهو و شعره واحد ،  و هو قال عن نفسه …”الشعر بالنسبة لي ليس هدفاً في حد ذاته. على الفنان أن يكون لديه طموح. وأعتقد ان أي فن بلا هدف ليس فناً. أنا لا أؤمن بمقولة “الفن للفن أو”الشعر للشعر”. لماذا؟ لأنني اعتقد أنه إذا كان لدى الفنان أو الشاعر أو الأديب طموح في حياته فيجب أن يراهن على الناس وهذا يقتضي منه أن يكون قريباً من الناس. هذا لا يعني النزول عند رغبات الناس بل الارتقاء برغبات الناس، وعليه في كل الحالات أن يتناول المواضيع التي تهم الناس. أعتقد أن هذا موجود في شعري
